Kevin P. Jennette, 69, of Durand Road, Plattsburgh, NY, passed away on Sunday December 11, 2022 at UVHN:CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Plattsburgh on November 12, 1953 the son of Kenneth and Gladys Madeline (Morgan) Jennette.
Kevin worked for the New York State Department of Corrections, retiring in 2014 after 25 years of service. Prior to corrections he worked for Buck Paper Company for 18 years.
He was known as "Santa" to many, even though he preferred his Harley to a sleigh and snow was his least favorite weather forecast. His drink of choice was a cold beer, especially if served at Bobby's Lounge, but he wouldn't turn down a good spiced rum if you're buying. A local historian of sorts, he loved telling stories about the past, the olden days, the way back whens. If the Giants or Yankees were playing then you can bet he was watching and yelling at bad calls. He had a mind built for crosswords and getting the final Jeopardy answer right. He spent many summers and shared countless laughs with family and beloved friends around a campfire at Iroquois Campground in Peru, NY. His brothers and his sisters would all want you to know he never turned down a visit, a phone call, or a chance to catch up on things and to be there if they needed him.
He supported his favorite only daughter Sarah through it all, even a big move to Boston for grad school despite a strong distaste for Boston sports teams -- and eventually, when she got a new job and desperately needed his meticulous and legendary Uhaul packing skills, he happily braved Massachusetts drivers and brought her back home. And with 36 years of marriage, a few cats, and one very happy pup named Charlie, no one took care of him better, fought for him more strongly, or loved him more than his wife and best friend, Sue.
Kevin was predeceased by his parents, two brothers; Fred and Michael Jennette and a sister Glennice Jones.
He is survived by his wife Susan (Gagnier) Jennette, a daughter Sarah Jennette of Plattsburgh, his siblings; Wayne (Jill) Jennette and Gail Snyder, his sisters-in-law; Patti Gonyea and Mary Beth (Rick) Allsop, several nieces and nephews also survive him.
