Laura B Mitchell (Brooks)

June 2, 1935 — April 10, 2021

Laura B. Mitchell, 85, of Plattsburgh, ran into the arms of her Savior on Saturday, April 10, 2021. She was born in Plattsburgh, NY on June 2, 1935, the daughter of Stantley E. and Vera Mace (Newton) Brooks.
Laura was hard working, she worked as a Ward Clerk at CVPH Medical Center, a Patient Advocate for Clinton County Nursing Home, the Activities Director of Cedar Hedge Nursing Home and a New York State Retiree. She was a member of the Altona Red Hatters. Laura was community minded; serving on the Nazarene Church Board, ARC Board and Plattsburgh Housing Board. She was a faithful member of the Church of the Nazarene for many years; teaching Adult Sunday School, serving as Choir Director, Finance Committee, Orchestra Leader and loved to play hymns on her trumpet or baritone horn.
She loved her entire family with every fiber of her being! She loved hugs and kisses! She was always quick with a joke or a laugh. She had a wonderfully infectious personality that everyone was drawn to. Everyone loved her. She was the best and most loving wife and mother anyone could ever have. She loved her Lord and Savior with all her heart, and now she is free of all pain and is joyously spending eternity with Him.
She is predeceased by her parents, her son Bruce Dale Mitchell, grandchildren Christopher Joel Mitchell and Emily Marie Burdo, her siblings; Stanley Brooks Jr., Howard N. Brooks, Barbara V. (Brooks) Dash.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Roy Mitchell, Jr., her children Patricia (Kevin) Straight, Nancy (Jack) Hamelin, Barbara Burdo, Jeffrey (Peggy) Mitchell, Rebecca (Duane) Hespell and Joey Mitchell; her grandchildren Corey (Johanna) Hamelin, Michael Hamelin, Roy Mitchell, Jennifer (Josh) Stefano, Nathan MacCallum, Sean and Trevor Hespell; her great grandchildren Juniper Stefano and Michaela Hamelin; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. A celebration of her life and memorial service will be held at a later date at the Plattsburgh Church of the Nazarene. Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh, NY.
