Laura Drum

Laura Drum, 71, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at the UVM-CVPH Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born in Plattsburgh, NY, on December 14, 1948 to Eleanor Raphael of Cadyville, NY. She was the foster daughter of Olive Welch who she lived with along with her sister Judy for many years.
Laura Drum attended Saranac Central School. Later, in her life she met her soon to be husband John Drum in Plattsburgh, NY. They were married back in 1969 at Drum’s Church in Reading County Township. During her time being married to her husband, she travelled the world and enjoyed her time in Germany. One of her hobbies was to collect Antique German furniture and tapestries. She collected cherub babies and enjoyed making jewelry and giving them to her friends and family.
Laura Drum was predeceased by her biological mother Eleanor Raphael, foster mother Olive Welch, and her brother Ronald Raphael. She is survived by her brother Gary (Kim) Raphael (Peoria, Az), sisters Linda Edwards (Denton, TX), Judy Raphael (Albany, NY), and Arlene (Jeff) Wrye (Moors, NY). She is also survived by a foster sister Patty VanValkenburg (Plattsburgh, NY). She was a beloved mother to her surviving children David (Lorianne) Drum (Norwalk, Oh), Noah (Malone, NY), Charles (Marcel) Drum (Brunssum, NL), and Yvonne Hampton (Plattsburgh, NY). She is survived by her grandkids Lakeiah Rose (Orlando, FL), Darrell Hampton, Gregory Richardson, John (Amy) Drum, Veronica Shultz, Shae Drum, and Charlize Drum. She was a great-grandmother to Ashlynn, Izzabell, Bentley Aviana, Avery, Lexandra,.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 from 10:00am to 11:00 am at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Due to the current pandemic, face coverings and social distancing will be required during services. Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh.
