Redford Mr. Leo W. Collins, 89, of Clinton St., Redford, NY passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the CVPH Medical Center with family by his side. He was born in Loon Lake, New York on April 5, 1924 the son of Allie and Alma (Caron) Collins. Leo was a veteran of WWII serving in the U. S. Army. He was a Life Member of the American Legion Post #1618, Saranac and the Church of the Assumption in Redford. Leo was an avid golfer and played at Ausable Forks Golf Course. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. Leo was predeceased by his parents, his brothers; Isadore and Arthur Collins, his sisters; Elizabeth Terry and Theresa Pellerin and a great grandson Ryan Sears. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Blanche (Fournia) Collins of Redford, a son Larry Collins and his wife Eunice of Cadyville, a daughter Connie Collins and her spouse Yvonne Hoyt of Peru, a granddaughter who he considered a daughter; Michelle Sears and her husband Robert of West Chazy; Gloria Herring and her husband Steven of Mechanicsville, Rochelle Kral of Peru, Sara Rauen of Buffalo, Jennifer Rauen of Buffalo, three great grandchildren; Tyler, Emma and Mya and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Church of the Assumption, Redford. Interment with full military honors will follow at the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Church of the Assumption, Redford or the Saranac Rescue Squad.
