Leo Joseph Garrant

May 30, 1974 — November 13, 2023

Leo J. Garrant, 49, of State Route 9 in Chazy, entered into eternal peace on Monday, November 13, 2023, after a short and courageous battle with late-stage cancer. He passed away peacefully at his family’s home, surrounded by his loving family. Leo was born on May 30, 1974, in Plattsburgh to David Garrant, Sr. and the late Nancy (LaRocque) Garrant. He leaves behind his wife of 19 years, Pamela (Boudreau) Garrant, and daughters Ashley and Alexis Sharp. In addition, he is survived by his two sisters Cyndie Pfohler and husband Robert of Peru, NY, Betsy Tisdel and husband Ken of Richmond, TX; and four brothers David Garrant, Jr. of St. Albans, VT, Jesse Garrant and wife Brenda of Clarence Center, NY, Michael Garrant and wife Claire of Haymarket, VA, and Shawn Garrant of Plattsburgh, along with ten beautiful nieces and four nephews. Leo was a lifelong resident of the Plattsburgh area and a graduate of Plattsburgh High School. He was committed to the things he loved; notably his family, work, knitting scarves and hats for others, classic cartoons, and ironically, horror movies. He was a very loyal and hard worker who committed years to providing janitorial services at the Champlain-St. Bernard de Lacolle Border Crossing, working alongside the men and women of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. He was a participant in the Special Olympics where he competed in basketball and bowling. Leo was an avid professional wrestling fan who enjoyed going to live events as well as watching them on television every chance he would get. He was good, gentle, and his warmth and silliness made him beloved by all, but most especially his nieces and nephews. His humor was sharp, but never at the expense of someone else. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who have been blessed to have known him. Viewing hours will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Victory Church. Interment will follow in St. Peter's cemetery.
