Leo Lavene

Plattsburgh Mr. Leo Lavene, 97, formerly of the Brown Road, Plattsburgh, NY, passed away Monday, August 18, 2014 at the Meadowbrook Health Care Facility. He was born in Morrisonville, NY on May 7, 1917 the son of Fred and Anne (Robare) Lavene. Leo was veteran of WWII serving in the U. S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1619 and he was a member of the Free and Accepted Mason formerly the Plattsburgh Lodge 828. Leo was self-employed as an automobile mechanic. He enjoyed cutting and splitting wood until the age of 95. Leo was predeceased by his parents, his wife Isabelle, his daughter, Gladys Walker, two brothers Lawrence Lavene and Norman Lavene. He is survived by his son-in-law Earl Walker of Montana, a sister-in-law Margaret Lavene Breyette of Cadyville, his nephews; Wayne Corbiere and his wife Shirley of Morrisonville, Thomas Lavene and his wife Diane of Plattsburgh, Gregory Lavene and his wife Donna of Morrisonville, Judy Lavene Collins of Cadyville, Frederick Lavene and his wife Florence of Morrisonville, Ellanna Lavene McNeil and her husband Randy of Ellenburg Depot, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, several great nieces and great nephews. Calling hours will be Thursday, August 21, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, NY. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Interment with full military honors will be at the Jay Cemetery, Jay, New York on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Friends wishing may make donations to ALS Foundation. Members of the Free and Accepted Mason are asked to meet Thursday at 4:30 p.m. for services. Members of the American Legion Post #1619 are asked to meet Thursday at 5:00 p.m. for services.
