Leo F. Nash passed away June 30, 2008 In Durham, NC following a brief stay at the VA hospital and Brian Rehabilitation Center on Fayetteville Rd. He was born January 3, 1927 in Plattsburgh, NY, the son of Leo S. and Margaret Merritt Nash. After graduating from St. John's Academy in 1944, Mr. Nash enlisted in the US Navy. At the end of World War II, he attended Syracuse University, graduating in the Class of 1950. Leo Nash was employed by the Federal Reserve Bank in NYC and retired as a Sr. Bank Examiner in 1983. He later was hired as a Vice President for Credit Review with Republic National Bank. Following his retirement from Republic in 1990, Mr. Nash made his home in Durham, NC. Mr. Nash was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He also was a former member of the Elks Club in Plattsburgh and the renowned Wild Goose Club in Loon Lake, NY. For many years he organized family and friend reunions to baseball and football games, the races at Saratoga, and annual trips to Aruba. Surviving family members include his nephews Peter Nash of Verona, N.J. and John McGavisk of Durham, N.C. and his nieces Peg Masters of Old Forge, N.Y., Mary Keefe of Fair Haven, N.Y. and Margaret Rondeau of Ausable Forks, N.Y. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3pm on Friday, July 25, 2008 from St. John's Church in Plattsburgh. Interment will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations maybe made to Hospice of the North Country. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh.
