Leon B Forkey

Plattsburgh Mr. Leon B. Forkey, 87, of Weed Street, Plattsburgh, NY passed away November 1, 2009 at Meadowbrook Health Care Facility, Plattsburgh, New York. He was born in Mooers, NY on July 8, 1922 the son of Alex and Eva (Riel) Forkey. Leon graduated from Mount Assumption Institute in Plattsburgh, class of 1941. He then served in the United States Army during World War II in India. After returning from the war he worked for many years for the City of Plattsburgh at the Water Pollution Control Plant. Leon enjoyed watching and playing hockey in his younger years. He was an avid Plattsburgh State Hockey fan and would regularly attend games with his brother Homer. Leon was predeceased by his parents, five sisters; Mildred, Yvonne, Evelyn, Irene and Lorraine and a brother Homer Forkey. He is survived by a sister Shirley Marquis and her husband William of Plattsburgh, seven nieces and nephews; Donald Rabideau and his wife Norma of Dallas, GA, Geraldine Knowles and her husband Richard of Plattsburgh, Sandy McCarthy and her husband Dennis of Plattsburgh, Judy Walker and her husband Russell of Burlington, VT and Tina Trombley and her husband Lynn of West Chazy, Cheryl Marquis of Readsboro, VT and Steve Wilson of Plattsburgh. Calling hours will be Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, New York. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. William Reamer, Chaplain at CVPH Medical Center officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
