Leonard L Read

Plattsburgh Mr. Leonard L. Read, 78, of Morrisonville, NY passed away January 3, 2015 at the UVMHN-CVPH Medical Center with his family by his side. He was born in Cumberland Center, Maine the son of Leonard H. and Rachael (Wing) Read. Leonard was a veteran of Vietnam serving in the U. S. Navy from February 27, 1955 to May 4, 1977. He then went to work for Clinton County Health Department as a finance officer retiring in April 1999. Leonard had many talents, one of which was designing and construction of fine furniture. He had a lifetime passion for cars and spent many hours maintaining and restoring them. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Leonard was predeceased by parents, a sister Dianna Read. He is survived by his wife Irene Read of Morrisonville, his daughters; Sandra Read of Plattsburgh, Annette Stroinski and her husband Alexander and their children; Aspen and Matthew of Plattsburgh, his stepsons; Daniel Bissonette of Syracuse and his daughter Megan of Seattle, and two great grandchildren: Jamaya and James of Seattle, Todd Bissonette and his wife Joanne and their children Corey and Shawn of Plattsburgh, two sisters; Victoria Riel and her husband Michael of Plattsburgh, Lisa Maliniak and her husband Marion of Plattsburgh, several nieces and nephews also survive him. There will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 9, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, NY. Full military honors will follow.
