Leonard L Seymour

Leonard L. Seymour, 89, of Morrisonville, passed away March 12, 2018 at CVPH Medical Center. He was born in Plattsburgh on August 6, 1928 the son of George and Rose (Bouyea) Seymour. Leonard served his country in the Korean War where he was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, symbolizing his close-quarter combat. He married Mary "Mitzy" Sorel in St. Alexander's Church on December 26, 1950 while on leave from his service. Upon his honorable discharge from the United States Army, he worked and retired from Clinton Correctional Facility as a Corrections Officer after 31 years and worked part-time for Morrisonville Construction and Bernard Barber Sales and Service. Leonard was an outdoorsman, enjoying going to camp in Onchiota; hunting and fishing. He had a love for speed, going four-wheeling, snowmobiling, and boating. He enjoyed spending time in his garden at home. He was a lifetime member of the VFW #125, and American Legion #1619. Leonard's greatest love was to be with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Leonard is predeceased by his parents, his siblings; Ella Mae Lucia, Valeda Wood, Dennis Seymour, Donald Seymour, Harold Seymour, and Lawrence "Andy" Seymour, and his great-granddaughter Sophia Roth. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary "Mitzy" (Sorel) Seymour, their children; Lester "Nit" Seymour and his wife Mickie, Carolyn Terry and her husband Roy, Pamela Cook and her husband Gary, Lisa Dupell and her husband Chris, 7 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren, his brother, Robert "Bud" Seymour and several nieces and nephews Visitation will be Friday, March 16, 2017 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 10:30am at St. Alexander's Church. Burial will be at a later date in the parish cemetery with military honors.
