Louis J. Diamond of Airmont, NY transcended into heaven on September 20, 2019. He was born in Hull, England on November 14, 1920 to John J. Diamond and Minerva Schurer. Louis was predeceased by his wife Patricia Boissy Diamond who passed on October 6, 2001. He is survived by his two loving and devoted daughters Louise Anne (LuAnne) Diamond of Airmont, NY and Theresa Diamond of Pelham, NY.
Lou was a WW II Navy veteran who served on the destroyer Harry F. Bauer. He was an electrician's mate, second class (EM2c) who had earned many commendations including, Point System, Good Conduct medal, Asiatic-Pacific medal - 2 stars, Victory medal, American Area medal and the Philippine Liberation medal.
Louis was a retired Electrical Engineer for the New York Telephone Company, now Verizon. He worked there for over 30 years as a second level manager and was responsible for the circuit board designs for all the PBX switchboards used by the telephone operators. He has been enjoying his retirement for close to 35 years.
Lou was also an avid pool player in his younger days and was fascinated by astronomy and anything mechanical. He also loved to sing and played the harmonica like a pro !! Singing was his love right up to the end singing every night with his daughter. His aid Sam was also a big part of his life…. They also sang together and loved each other very much. He was a long time member of the S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. (Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America ) In his earlier days he was a member of the "All City Chorus"…. Singing made him very happy !
Calling hours will be held on Friday September 27, 2019 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday September 28, 2019 at 10:00 am at St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh, burial will follow with full military honors at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
