Margaret V. Bayoumy, 86 of Cumberland Head Road, Plattsburgh, NY beloved wife, mother, and cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2024, at the UVM health Network-CVPH Medical Center. She was born on October 16th, 1937, in Catford, England, to her parents Robert and Rose (née Gibbs) Dunn. Devoted to her family, Margaret was the loving wife of Dr. Salem M. Bayoumy, with whom she shared more than 60 years of joyful marriage. Together, they traversed continents, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Margaret was a beacon of strength and support for her four children, Yvette, Anwar, Shariff, Janine, six grandchildren (John, Liam, Matthew, Luke, Nathan, and Lyla) and her great grandchild Hudson, guiding them with wisdom and unconditional love. Margaret is also survived by her sister Jennifer (Philip) Tucker of Trumbull, CT, who will cherish her memory dearly. Margaret trained as a nurse in England pursuing a career as a midwife. She served as the head nurse of pediatrics at Memorial Hospital and Brook General Hospital in London. Beyond her roles as wife and mother, Margaret was an active member in the community. Her altruistic spirit led her to volunteer for various causes including local animal shelters and rescue groups, a local food shelf, a volunteer literacy program and volunteer tutoring at Cumberland Head School. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she touched the lives of many through her volunteer work, acts of kindness, and sharing her passions with others. She was also an enthusiastic member of the local Red Hatters, finding joy in friendship and community engagement wherever she went. Margaret had a deep love for animals and had many pet cats and dogs whom she adored and cared for dearly, bringing joy and companionship into her life. Margaret lived a life rich with experiences, residing in various corners of the world including England, Ireland, Zambia, and the United States. Each place she called home left an indelible mark on her heart, and she embraced the diversity of cultures she encountered. She had a zest for exploration and enjoyed traveling. She had the pleasure of visiting many destinations including Barbados, Hawaii, Cyprus, Egypt, Canada, and Europe. Margaret’s passions extended beyond borders; she was an avid reader. She also brought joy to many with her green thumb cultivating spectacular flowerbeds in each place she called home, bringing beauty and life to her surroundings. Her gardens were part of the local Secret Garden Tour event sponsored by the Kent-Delord House Museum. In retirement, Margaret and her husband, would travel between their homes in Plattsburgh, NY, and Naples, FL. Margaret will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her gentle spirit, generous heart, and unwavering strength leave a lasting imprint on the lives of those she leaves behind. A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at Brown Funeral Home on February 21, 2024, calling hours will be between 3-5pm. Burial will be in St Mary's Cemetery later this year. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ARWS Animal Rescue and Welfare Services (PO Box 2341 Plattsburgh, NY) or the Plattsburgh Interfaith Food Shelf (PO Box 1317 Plattsburgh, NY) in Margaret’s honor. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
