Margaret A "Marge" Gerhardt

February 24, 1941 — December 24, 2021

Margaret “Marge” A. Gerhardt, 80, of Oliver Ct, Plattsburgh, NY passed away at home on December 24, 2021 with her family by her side. Born February 24, 1941 in Cleveland, OH the eldest daughter of Michael and Anna(Bujdos) Palisin.

Early in life, Marge’s sense of adventure landed her a job working for Northwest Airlines which took her to Miami, Florida and Anchorage, Alaska where she met and fell in love with Robert “Bob” Gerhardt(USAF), they married on June 10, 1967 in Lakewood, OH.

Military life had them stationed in Texas, Illinois, Guam and eventually brought them here to PAFB in 1978. Marge continued her travel career at Touraid Travel as a Travel Agent and Office Manager for 20+ years.

Throughout the years, she organized many group trips for area churches and parishioners. Always civic minded, she spent countless hours volunteering her time to the many organizations she was involved in including Plattsburgh Noon Rotary Club, First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Red Hat Society, and St. Alexander’s Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Choir.

She is survived by her son James Gerhardt and his wife Heather of Plattsburgh. Her siblings; Sr. Mary Katherine Palisin(SND), Michael (Rita) Palisin, Georgine (Michael) Kuchinos, Ann (Jack, deceased) Costo, Therese (Tim) Dalrymple, sisters-in-law; Judy (Ron, deceased) Gerhardt and Donna (Arvid) Steffek. Five Grandchildren; Jacob, Luke, Audrey, Nikki and Korah Gerhardt, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Bob, her son Jerry, her brother and sister-in-law Paul (Jeani) Palisin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 2, 2022 at 11:00am at St. Alexander’s Church in Morrisonville, burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Donations in Marge’s memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country. Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
