Saranac Mrs. Marian L. Thomas, 75, of Standish Road, Saranac, New York passed away peacefully, Sabbath, March 21, 2009 at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Bridgewater, New York on December 30, 1933 the daughter of Chester and Leonora (Link) Mills. Marian was a graduate of Bridgewater Central School and attended Southern University in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Atlantic Union College in South Lancaster, Massachusetts. Marian taught school in the Seventh-day Adventist Educational System for 20 years. She was an active member of the High Banks and Chateaugay Seventh-day Adventist Church. Predominately a home maker, Marian enjoyed ceramics, having had her own studio, as well as teaching ceramics to children at Camp Cherokee. She was predeceased by her parents Chester and Leonora Mills and a son Howard E. "Tom" Thomas, Jr. Marian is survived by her husband of 50 years Pastor Howard E. "Gene; Pastor T." Thomas of Saranac, two daughters; Margene T. Damon and her husband Steve of Moira, New York, Patricia T. Clarke and her husband Warren of Clinton, Massachusetts, a brother, George Mills and his wife Joy of Crossville, Tennessee, a sister, Lillian Menshausen of Lenoir City, Tennessee, a daughter-in-law Linda Wheeler and her husband Steve of Brewerton, New York, eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of those taught by her. Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 25, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, New York. A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in High Banks. Interment will be at a later date in the family plot at the Independent Cemetery in Saranac, New York. Memorial gifts in Marian's memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country or the Chateaugay Seventh-day Adventist Church.
