Mitchell, 99, of Station Street in Altona, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Altona on March 19, 1915, the daughter of the late Ernest and Emma (Lucia) Dame. Marie was employed at the Champlain Valley Hospital for many years and later at H.L. Green in Plattsburgh for 12 years until her retirement. She was a member of Holy Angels Church in Altona, the Rockside Senior Citizens Club, the Altona Fire Department Ladies Auxillary and she also enjoyed reading, crocheting, making cookies for her grandchildren, and BINGO. She is survived by a son and two daughters in law; Richard and Jill Mitchell of Champlain, Barbara Brunell of Altona, two stepsons and daughters in law; Donald and Stella Mitchell of Altona, Roy and Laura Mitchell of Plattsburgh, 19 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her second family, the staff and residents at Evergreen Valley Nursing Home whom the family wishes to thank. She was predeceased by her first husband, Wilmer Brunell, her second husband Roy Mitchell, a son, Terry Brunell, her siblings; Aderine Phaneuf, Donald Dame, Cassie Dame, Cye Dame, Irene Gero, a granddaughter; Brenda Brunell, and great grandchildren; Tara Bushey, Chris Burdo, Emily Burdo , Chris and Chad Brunell and Baby Bonnie. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2014 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 3123 Miner Farm Road in Altona. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 3, 2014 at 11:00 am at Holy Angels Church in Altona. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. A reception will follow at Holy Angels Hall. Memorial donations may be offered to the Altona Fire Department Ladies Auxillary.
