Mark Rutkowski

d. September 13, 2018

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mark Rutkowski, at his home in Essex, NY on Thursday September 13, 2018. As a young man, Mark's carefree spirit led him on travels across the United States, eventually returning to Vermont, and finally to Essex NY. Mark was known for his love of cooking. An excellent chef, he plied his trade in many restaurants in VT and NY and entertained friends with his epicurean delights. When needed, he volunteered his skills at local charities. He found joy in acting and in his involvement with the Essex Theatre Company. He was a friend to all and much loved. Mark, we will miss you. Born May 6, 1958 in Amsterdam, NY to the late William Rutkowski and Jacquelyn (Kennedy) Rutkowski. He married Rebecca Foxx in 1992 and together they had three sons. Later, divorced, he met and partnered for life with the late Mary Gullo, and they spent several wonderful years together until her passing in 2010. He is survived by his mother, Jackie Baker, of Wilmington NC, and his three sons, Mark Ian Rutkowski and his son, Myles Ian Rutkowski of Wadhams, NY; Jake Rutkowski of South Burlington, VT; and Scott Rutkowski of Essex Junction, VT. He leaves behind his four siblings; William Rutkowski II of Huntington, VT; Anne Latulippe and her husband Francois of Duxbury VT; Douglas Rutkowski and his wife Rebecca of Hampstead NC; and Michael Rutkowski of Raleigh NC. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be held in Essex, NY, to be announced at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad Street, Plattsburgh, NY 12901, 518-561-3980. Online condolences offered at www.brownfuneralhomeinc.com.
