Marlene Lois Allen

Marlene "Molly" Lois Allen, 48, Cornelia Street Plattsburgh passed away at home and was carried by the angels on March 14, 2011. She was born in Saranac on May 21, 1962, the daughter of Carlton Dale Allen and Regina "Jean" (Robinson) Allen. Marlene graduated from Saranac Central School in 1980, earned her B.S. in psychology from Plattsburgh State University, and attended St. Michaels College in Vermont. She majored in Women's Studies. She was an Adjunct Instructor at North Country Community College, Clinton Community College, and Paul Smith's College. She served with the Mission of Hope in Nicaragua and also wanted to return. She was a loving daughter and enjoyed spending fun times with her sisters. Her sense of humor entertained her nieces as they had to choose which of her antique tins held treats for them. She treasured all of her nieces and nephews and gave strength to her "sunflower" niece Katelyn Gokey. Her outstanding personality took her many places. She loved to travel. Her sense of style was admired by all who knew her. Her candle shone bright. Marlene was predeceased by Carlton Dale Allen. She is survived by Regina "Jean" Allen of Saranac, sister Deborah Carter and her husband Nicholas, brother Mark Allen and his wife Lori, brother Scott Allen and his wife Deborah, sister Carolyn "Lynny" Spear and her husband Ron, sister Michelle Gokey and Damon Penney, 6 nieces and 8 nephews, 3 great nieces and 3 great nephews, all of whom she adored. Calling hours will be held Friday March 18, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad Street in Plattsburgh. Funeral Service will be held Saturday March 19, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at the Saranac United Methodist Church. Donations in her memory made be made to the North Country Mission of Hope at 239 New York Road, Plattsburgh, NY 12903.
