Plattsburgh Mrs. Marlene P. Murphy, 71, of Cogan Ave., Plattsburgh, New York passed away unexpectedly, Monday, November, 7, 2011 at the CVPH Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born in Plattsburgh, New York on August 15, 1940 the daughter of Oscar and Viola (Allard) Lucia. Marlene was a graduate of D'Youville Academy. She was cafeteria manager at St. John's School and later worked at Grand Union at Skyway and retired from Yando's Big M. Marlene enjoyed playing bingo, going to casinos, especially playing slot machines and doing crafts. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church. Marlene was predeceased by her parents Oscar and Viola Lucia. She is survived by her husband of fifty two years, John "Jack" Murphy of Plattsburgh, two daughters Jacqueline M. Allan and her husband William of Peru and Kim Hoyt and her husband Roger of Dannemora, three grandchildren; Zachary Hoyt and his fiancé Katie Christon, Jonathan Allan and Nathan Allan, one sister Shirley Sommerson of Folsom, CA, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be Thursday, November 10, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, November 11, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hope Lodge, 237 East Avenue, Burlington, VT. 05401.
