Marlene Pelkey

Marlene Joyce Pelkey, 88 of Plattsburgh, passed away on February 18, 2023, at her home with loving family by her side. Marlene was born in Morrisville, Vermont on April 20, 1934, the daughter of Wyvis (Bill) and Emma (Wheeler) Fisk.
After graduation from the Peoples Academy in Vermont, she worked her whole life, most recently up to the age of 84, as a childcare provider. She touched the hearts of so many families in the area. Marlene was more than a childcare provider; she treated each child she cared for with kindness and compassion and took such pride in being a part of their lives.
Marlene met the one and only love of her life, Joseph Leo Pelkey. They married on January 5, 1957, and made a home in Plattsburgh. They went on to have five children, Michael (Bev) of Michigan, Glenn (Jill) of South Carolina, Cathy Rushford, Thomas (Danelle) and Susan Gowett (Mark) all of Plattsburgh. Marlene was a devoted grandmother to Nicolette (AJ), Sarah, Seth, Jonathan, Brennan, Caleb and Arianna.
Marlene was predeceased by her parents, husband, Joe (1991) son, Michael (2018), her in-laws Marshall and Florence, sisters and their spouses Janice (Floyd), Joanne (Bernard), Elizabeth (Lynwood), a sister Donna, a brother, Bobby, brothers-in-law, Cecil, Arthur, John and sister-in-law, Patricia. In addition to her children and grandchildren, she leaves behind her sisters June and Nancy as well as a brother, Phillip (Jessie) and sisters-in-law, Kathy, Mary and Jennie and brother-in-law, Ed as well as many nieces and nephews on both sides of the lake.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday February 21, 2023 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at Brown Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday February 22, 2023 at 11:00 am at Our lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh. A cemetery committal service will be held in the spring at St. Peter's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of the North Country, 358 Tom Miller Road, Plattsburgh in her memory.
