Mary Lou Lavigne, of Morrisonville, passed away Monday, March 18, 2024. She was born Saturday, July 10, 1937, the daughter of Jasper Smith and Marie Gadway. She married the love of her life, Clifford Lavigne on October 6, 1956 and celebrated 63 years of marriage before his passing in February 2020. Mary Lou graduated Valedictorian of her class at Morrisonville High School in 1955. She was a case worker for the Department of Social Services, a member of the Morrisonville Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary and the Fireman’s Wives and Daughters Bowling League. Some of her joys included traveling, camping, square dancing and hosting friends and family at her pool in the summer. She loved flowers and tending to her many gardens. She was a skilled needle worker and talented craftswomen. She enjoyed shopping and going to lunch every Friday with, “The Girls.” She loved her pets Elmer, Popper and Popper II. She made sure that holidays were always memorable for her family, especially Christmas. She is survived by her brother, Arnold Smith; her son Michael (Amy) Lavigne, her daughter, Rose Marie (Michael) Taylor, three granddaughters; Kristen (Kerry) Chapin-Lavigne, Jillian Taylor, Michelle Lavigne and her fiancé Kevin Keane. Calling hours will be on Friday, March 22, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Alexander's Church. Interment will follow at St. Alexander's Cemetery.
