Mary Elizabeth Seguin passed away Friday October 18, 2024 at CVPH Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Born October 30, 1946, the daughter of Dewey and Hazel Hemingway (Reome) of Devils Den Road Altona, NY. Growing up in Sciota, NY, she spent time taking care of her siblings, developed a strong catholic faith and passion for reading. After graduating from Mooers Central School, she would go on to attend OLVA Secretarial School. Mary worked most of her career in library services at Northeastern Central, while also serving on the Book Mobile for Clinton, Essex and Franklin Counties. She also volunteered for her local diocese and taught religion classes. On November 5, 1966 Mary married her devoted husband, and true love Peter Seguin Jr of fifty-eight years. Together, they would build a strong family of three daughters instilling their love of faith and family within their children Karen, Joann, and Kristy. Mary cherished her husband and daughters, taking pride in the life’s that her children built for themselves. She helped raise her grandson, while her daughter attended nursing school. She enjoyed spending time with family, taking trips as well as the occasional visit to the casino. Over the past five years, Mary was able to meet her great grandson Aldean, sharing a special bond after losing her oldest daughter in 2015. A pillar of strength and love, she was a woman whose unwavering devotion to her husband and family defined her life. With a heart full of warmth and spirit grounded in faith, she navigated the challenges of life with grace, particularly during her battle with cancer. Her belief in God sustained her through the toughest moments, turning her pain into a testament of resilience. Even in her toughest days, she radiated kindness, reminding us all of the importance of love, family and faith. Her legacy is one of strength, compassion, and an enduring belief that hope can illuminate even the hardest paths. Mary was pre-deceased by her parents Dewey, and Hazel Hemingway, sister Anita Hemingway and oldest daughter Karen (Seguin) Prevo. She is survived by her husband Peter Seguin Jr, daughters Joann Poulsen, and husband Richard of Saranac, NY, Kristy Redmond, and husband Jason of Plattsburgh, NY. Grandson Ryan Deyo, and wife Cynthia of Rio Rancho, NM. Granddaughters Melody Poulsen and Kendra Trombley. Great Grandson Aldean Deyo. Brothers Andrew Hemingway, and wife Sandy, Thomas Hemingway and wife Terri. Sister Ann Agoney and husband Gary as well many nieces, nephews and godchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday October 22, 2024 at 11:00AM at Holy Angels Church in Altona, NY. A burial will follow the mass in Sciota, NY at St. Louis of France Cemetery.
