Plattsburgh Mr. Maurice Paul Gregoire, 88, of the Vilas Home in Plattsburgh, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2009 at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility in Plattsburgh. He was born in Champlain, N.Y. on February 26, 1921, the son of Honorius and Flore (Bouchard) Gregoire. Maurice attended St. Mary's Academy in Champlain .He enrolled in the Civilian Conservation Corps. in 1938 and later served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre during World War II where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart. After his return from the war, he once again was employed Sheridan Iron Works and later for Harris Graphics in Champlain. Maurice was a lifetime member of the V.F.W., the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 179 and American Legion Post 767 of Champlain. He is survived by three brothers and three sisters; Jean (Johnny) Gregoire of Tacoma,Washington, Donald and Lynn Gregoire of Tribes Hill, N.Y., Dennis Gregoire of Colorado Springs, Co.; Pauline and James Lammers of Champlain, Jeanne Brennan of Rouses Point, Rita and Richard Johnson of Morrisonville, a sister in law Faye Gregoire of Rouses Point, and several nieces and nephew. He was predeceased by his four brothers Marcel, Gerard, Leo and Emil Gregoire and two sisters Lucile Doris Gregoire and Gertrude O'Neill, a sister in law Audrey Gregoire, and two brothers in law Patrick O'Neill and James Brennan. In accordance with Maurice wishes, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service with military honors will be held at the convenience of the family at St. Mary's cemetery, Prospect Street in Champlain.
