Plattsburgh Mr. Maxwell "Mack" Appel, 81, of Plattsburgh, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2008 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on September 14, 1927, the son of Jack and Fanny Appel. Mr. Appel served in the Merchant Marine during World War II and the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service and later worked in the security and trucking professions. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge # 155. He is survived by his spouse Josephine Appel of Plattsburgh, 3 children, Dr. Marc Appel, Cathy Metzner and Eric Appel, a sister, Shirley Ellenhorn of Jericho, Long Island, and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A Masonic service will be conducted at 2pm on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at 2 pm from the Brown Funeral Home Chapel, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh.
