Melissa Lynn Bradshaw Shiffert
April 27, 1971 – March 23, 2025
With hearts full of love and gratitude for the time we shared with her, we announce the passing of Melissa Lynn Bradshaw Shiffert on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at her home in Peru, NY. Born on April 27, 1971, in Glens Falls, NY, Melissa lived a life marked by resilience, deep love, and an unwavering devotion to those she cherished.
A graduate of Corinth High School, Class of 1989, Melissa pursued her passion for caring for others by attending the Saratoga/Warren Vo-Tech Nursing Program. Later in life, she continued to grow and achieve, earning an accounting certificate from DeVry University.
Melissa’s greatest joy in life was becoming a mother to her beloved daughter, Lanie Grace Bradshaw, whom she adopted in 2014. From the moment Lanie entered her life, Melissa’s world revolved around her. She was not only a loving and devoted mother but also Lanie’s biggest supporter, guiding her with warmth, laughter, and endless encouragement. Together, they shared countless adventures, creating beautiful memories that will live on forever.
Despite facing significant health challenges, Melissa’s spirit remained unbreakable. She was a recipient of support from the South High Marathon Dance, a testament to the love and generosity of her community. Through the kindness of an organ donor, she was blessed with a kidney and pancreas transplant, giving her the gift of more time with those she held dear.
Melissa’s heart was as big as her love for animals. She adored her dogs and found joy in Lanie’s passion for caring for the cats she so lovingly tended to. She surrounded herself with cherished friends and family, holding a special place in her heart for her dear friend Tom Nicholson, whose presence brought her comfort and companionship.
To those who knew her best, Melissa was a light in their lives—her kindness, strength, and ability to find joy in the simple moments were an inspiration. Lanie remembers her mother as someone who could always make her laugh, even in the hardest of times, and who stood proudly by her side in everything she did. Melissa found peace and happiness in nature, spending time outdoors, taking in beautiful sights, and visiting her special sanctuary, Serenity Gardens in Peru, NY.
Melissa leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering strength. She is survived by her beloved daughter Lanie Grace Bradshaw, her devoted parents Charles and Barbara Bradshaw, her brother Charles Bradshaw (Lisa), and their children Ariel Kraeling (Brandon), Adria Bradshaw (Fabio Borges), and Jacob Bradshaw (McKenzie). She will be deeply missed by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and her treasured friend Rosemary Marino, who stood by her side with unwavering support throughout the years.
Though our hearts ache in her absence, we find solace in knowing that Melissa’s love will continue to shine through the many lives she touched. Her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration.
In honor of Melissa's love and dedication to her daughter, any contributions to support Lanie may be sent to 2560 Route 9 Lot 58A, Malta, NY 12020.
A celebration of life in Melissa’s honor will be held on Saturday the 29th from 1-3 at Northway Estates Club House 2560 Route 9 Malta, NY 12020
