Melvena A. Tomkiewicz, 74, of Plattsburgh, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at the Plattsburgh Rehab and Nursing Center. She was born in Plattsburgh on May 26, 1945, the daughter of Felix and Mabel (Todd) Lovejoy.
She loved playing Bingo, playing cards with friends, and spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 43 years, Elijah Tomkiewicz, Sr, a granddaughter, Cassandra "Cassi"Jean Tomkiewicz, and siblings.
She is survived by her son, Elijah Tomkiewicz, Jr. and his wife Dawn Davis, a daughter, Alice Freeman and her husband Chris, a grandson, Evan Tomkiewicz and his wife Sarah, a granddaughter, Eniola Sanni, a grandson, Bradyn Turcotte, two step grandchildren, Bethany (Steven) Booth and Joshua Davis, siblings Rosemary Shaw and Mary Sorrell and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no public calling hours or services due to the current pandemic. Entombment will be in Whispering Maples Memorial Garden in Elllenburgh, N.Y. Once the pandemic is lifted, family and friends will be notified of a gathering to remember and honor Melvena's life.
Memorial donations may be offered to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, a charity dear to Melvena's heart.
