Melvin F "Mel" Jones

Ellenburg Depot, NY Melvin "Mel" F. Jones, 46, of Ellenburg Depot, NY passed away on Friday May 14, 2010 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, NY, after complications from a stroke. He was born in Plattsburgh, NY on April 10, 1964 the son of Archie and Thelma (Heckman) Jones, Sr. Mel graduated from Plattsburgh High School in 1982; he then went on to serve in the United States Navy and later graduated from Clinton Community College with a degree in nursing. Mel worked for the New York State Department of Corrections as a Registered Nurse at Upstate Correctional Facility, Clinton Correctional Facility and Altona Correctional Facility. He enjoyed Scuba Diving, Racette Ball and Chess. Mel was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by two brothers; Archie Jones, Jr. and his wife Charlotte of Ellenburg Depot and Joseph Jones and two nieces; Jennifer and Charlotte A. Jones and a nephew George Jones and four grandnieces and nephews also survive him. Calling Hours will be held on Monday May 17, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
