Merton T. “Tom” Dickson, 67, of Plattsburgh, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018 at the UVM Health Network- CVPH with family by his side. He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on July 8, 1951 the son of the late Merton L. and Florence (Messerschmidt) Dickson.
Tom served in the U.S. Air Force from 1968 to 1988 and retired as a Staff Sergeant. He later was employed for Bombardier for 10 years until his retirement. He was a member of American Legion Post 1623 in Lyon Mountain and enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Carol (LaMare) Dickson, his daughter Melody (Danny) Hyatt of Moriah; his siblings and their spouses; Janice Hawke of Pulaski, PA., Robert (Dawn) Dickson , David (Aileen) Dickson of Belvedere, NJ., his granddaughters; Colette Hyatt of Philadelphia, PA., Carly (Cody) Sleeper of Westport, a great grandson Colin Sleeper, an aunt Joanne Dickson of Dickson’s Point, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews from New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and his dog Charlee Dee.
He was predeceased by his parents ,his mother in law; Louva LaMare, and a brother in law Dan Hawke.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh. Interment will be in St. Bernard’s cemetery in Lyon Mountain at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity.
The family wishes to thank the entire 3rd floor staff at CVPH who the excellent care given to Tom.
