Mildred Barber

Mildred Barber (88), died peacefully on January 26, 2022, in Cortland, NY, with her son at her side. Mildred was born in Ellenburg, NY, June 20, 1933. After graduating from Ellenburg High School she attended beauty school in Schenectady, NY and worked as a hairdresser in her home for almost 40 years. She is survived by her son Robert Barber and his wife Lori, granddaughters Robin (RJ) Lagoe and Alexa (Tyler Cretti) and great grandson Dylan Lagoe. She is also survived by her daughter Susan Barber Skinner (Jeff Skinner).
Mildred loved to be outdoors, especially near the Alder Bend River, where she fished her entire life. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband Francis. Together they logged many miles and enjoyed many meals from the Tetons to Maine. After Francis passed Mildred continued to travel to Maine and made annual visits to the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, MA.
Mildred was pre-deceased by her husband Francis, her parents Dewey and Viola Trudeau, her beloved brother Clarence Trudeau, and.in-laws Andrew and Lorena Barber, brother-in-law Bernard Barber and his wife Dorothy, sisters-in-law Genevieve LaDuke and Bernadette and Calvin Favro. She is survived by sister in law Marie Trudeau and brother in law Ronald LaDuke as well as many nieces and nephews.
A private funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Angels Church in Altona, NY. Donations may be made in Mildred’s memory to the Dominican Retreat and Conference Center, 1945 Union St., Niskayuna, NY 12309.
