Mildred C Costin

Mildred C. Costin, 95, formerly of Moffit Road, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Plattsburgh Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was born in Mooers Forks on January 21, 1928, the daughter of the late William and Minnie (Gadway) LaFountain.

Mildred attended school in Mooers Forks. At 16, she moved to Plattsburgh where she worked at various times at Plattsburgh Hospital, Georgia Pacific, Forrence Orchards and Unique Jewelry. When she wasn’t working, she was a homemaker who kept a clean house, grew the prettiest peonies, crocheted award-winning afghans and made the best cream puffs!

She is survived by her children John Gursky of Plattsburgh, Tom (Liz) Gursky of Arden, NC, Kathy Gursky of Plattsburgh, Karen Gursky (Tom Hanchett) of Moriah, Stanley (Pam) Gursky of Hudson Falls, and Laurie Relyea (Ed Reiblein) of Cohoes; her grandchildren Eric Gursky (Dionne), Michael Gursky, Stephanie Relyea (Zach), Danielle Murphy (Dan), Tommy Gursky (Vanessa), and Christina Gursky; her great-grandchildren Aidan Gursky, and Mack and Walter Murphy; her brother and sister-in law Karl and Bev Costin; her brother-in-law Paul Costin; many nieces and nephews; and her favorite four-legged feline friend, Belle.

She was predeceased by her first husband Joseph Gursky; her second husband Gordon Costin; her daughter Lisa Gursky; her granddaughter Holly Gursky; her great-granddaughter Ashleigh Gursky; and siblings Margery Duval, Fremont LaFountain, Irene Barcomb, Hector LaFountain, Bertha Vincent, and Leon LaFountain.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Peter's Church. Interment will be in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Moriah. Memorial donations may be made to Plattsburgh Rehabilitation and Nursing Center or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
