Redford Nathan A. "Nate" Wood, 18, of Clinton St., Redford, NY passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014 at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington, Vermont with his family by his side after a courageous 16 month battle with Ewing Sarcoma. He was born in Plattsburgh, New York on October 30, 1995 the son of Roy and Tammy (Miller) Wood. Nate graduated June 21, 2014 from Saranac High School where he was a five year starter on the wrestling team. He was a sectional champion at 182 pound class and went on to compete at the New York State Wrestling Championship. Nate enjoyed driving his Subaru BRZ, hanging out with friends, hunting, fishing, riding his dirt bike and four wheeler. Nathan was always on the go. He was free spirited and enjoyed every moment of life. He had a strong and caring soul and adored his family and friends. Nate has left a lasting impression on anyone who had crossed his path. His smile and warm heart along with his determination and positive attitude in everything he did will always be in our hearts. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Francis Miller, his maternal great grandparents Ernest and Esther Miller, his paternal grandfather Joseph Harold Wood. Nathan is survived by his parents Roy and Tammy Wood of Redford, two sisters; Courtney Wood and her companion Travis McDougal of Clayburg, Kayla Wood of Redford, his brother Brandon Wood and his wife Natalie of Morrisonville, a nephew Daniel Wood a niece Leah Wood, his maternal grandmother Dorothy Allen and her husband Kevin of Morrisonville, his paternal grandmother Helen Wood and Wayne Girard who Nate considered his grandfather his girl friend Carissa Premore of Cadyville, several aunts, uncles, cousins and his dog Bear also survive him. Calling hours will be Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Assumption, Redford, New York In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nathan Wood Trust Fund, c/o Jackie Black at St. Alexander's Church, P. O. Box 159, Morrisonville, New York 12962.
