Norma B. Loughan, 89, formerly of Point Au Fer, Champlain, NY, passed away on Saturday August 15, 2015 at Meadowbrook Health Care in Plattsburgh. She was born in Mooers Forks, NY on February 6, 1926 the daughter of Joseph and Emma (Snide) Barror. Norma married Robert Loughan on June 26, 1948 at St. John's Church in Plattsburgh. She received her nursing degree from the Champlain Valley School of Nursing in Plattsburgh and then went on to Plattsburgh State University. Norma worked at CVPH Hospital and later was a nurse at the SUNY Plattsburgh Infirmary until retiring in the late 1970's. She enjoyed Saturday night card games with her husband and their friends and neighbors. She also enjoyed winters in Englewood, FL, where she loved to have her grandkids down to swim in the pool and pick fruit off the various trees. Norma enjoyed Saturday dances at the Elks Club in Plattsburgh and Englewood, FL. She enjoyed long walks too. Norma also enjoyed having the grandkids up to the lake on Point Au Fer for a swim. She was a member of the St. John's Church in Plattsburgh. Norma was predeceased by her parents, her husband Robert Loughan, three brothers; Norman Barror her twin, Gerald Barror and Alec Barror and a grandson Daniel Loughan. She is survived by her children; Stephen (Norma) Loughan of Plattsburgh, William (Arlene) Loughan of Champlain, Robert (Melanie) Loughan of Plattsburgh, Christopher (Pamela) Loughan of Plattsburgh, Mary (Michael) Terwilleger of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Peg Kendal of Solvay, NY, her grandchildren; Ryan, Shannon (Chad), Sean, Kellen, Dustin, Casey, Ian, Hannah, Robert, Ashley, Melissa, Cortney and (Silas), great grandchildren; Jack, Bently, Zaedyn, Kaziya and Evias, her siblings; Rita Barror Rossi and Joan Barror, several nieces and nephews also survive her. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday August 18, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel, with the burial immediately following at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Plattsburgh. Donations in Norma's memory may be made to Alzheimer's Research, St. John's Church or a charity of one's choice.
