Dannemora Mr. Norman B. "Mike" Beauchemin, 86, of Emmons Street, Dannemora, NY passed away peacefully Monday, June 22, 2009 at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Saranac on September 13, 1922 the son of Solomon and Mabel (Collins) Beauchemin. The 4th of six children, Mike joined the navy and was a World War II veteran. After being honorably discharged, he worked at Utica State Hospital where he met his future wife, Antoinette Toni' Dzwonkas. They were married September 13, 1952 and shared 56 years together before her death. Mike became a corrections officer and he and Toni moved to Dannemora. He retired from Dannemora State Hospital in 1975. Mike had a love of flying, so he graduated from aviation school and obtained his commercial pilot's license. He owned his own plane and enjoyed many years of flying. In addition to flying, Mike spent many hours caning chairs and refinishing furniture. He could fix anything and when he wasn't painting the interior or exterior of houses, he could be found tinkering in his workshop. Mike also was an avid bowler and golfer who enjoyed his league outings. Mike was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora and a member of American Legion Post # 852. . Mike was predeceased by his parents Sol and Mabel Beauchemin, his wife Toni, an infant sister Marion and his brothers Robert (Sarah) Beauchemin and Arnold Diddy' Beauchemin. He is survived by two sisters Eileen Tacy and her husband Arthur of Dannemora, and Marjorie (Edward) Camfield of Plattsburgh and Jean Beauchemin of North Carolina. He is also survived by eight nieces and nephews including Debbie Alphonso and her husband Larry who were his caregivers, Bob and Dale Beauchemin, Bob and Mickey Tacy, Brian and Brad Beauchemin, Barb Raab and their spouses. Calling hours will be Wednesday, June 24, 2009 from 3:00 to 7:00 at Brown funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, Dannemora. Internment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Donations in the memory of Norman Mike' Beauchemin may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora.
