Norman E. Peryer, Jr., 91, of Parker Road, West Chazy, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025, at his home with his loving family by his side under the care of Hospice of the North Country. He was born in Plattsburgh on July 10, 1933, the son of Norman E. Peryer, Sr. and Evelyn (Chamberlain) Peryer. He owned and operated Babbie & Peryer Bulk Milk Hauling together with his partner, Ken Babbie throughout his work life during which time he established friendships with several north country farmers and the employees of Rosebud Creamery. He enjoyed carpentry work and was proud of his accomplishments in the construction of his own home, as well as his contributions to construction and renovations to the homes of each of his children. He served for decades as a volunteer fireman with the West Chazy Fire Department and enjoyed the relationships he established with his fellow fireman, particularly through his participation in the Fireman’s Bowling League. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War and was a member of the North Country Honor Flight. His love for his wife and family knew no bounds. If ever there were a role model for what it means to be a patriarch, it was Norman. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Beverly J. Peryer and his nine children, June (Daniel) Nephew, Neal (Deena) Peryer, Lynn (Michael) Deneault, Kevin (Michele) Peryer, Jill (Wayne) Jennette, Lisa (Brent) Blake, Jon (Amy) Peryer, Daryl Peryer and Eric (Barbara) Peryer. He also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and his brother Louis (Susan) Peryer. He was predeceased by his parents and his siblings, Shirley Hindes, Donald Peryer, Phyllis Powers and Mary DeCoste. Calling hours will be held on Thursday January 9, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday January 10, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy.
