Patricia Gonyea

Patricia L. Gonyea, 89, formerly of Plattsburgh, NY passed away at the Franklin County Nursing Home on November 7, 2013 with her family by her side. She had also been a resident of Farrar Home in Malone before moving to the Nursing Home in May 2010. She was born in Plattsburgh, NY on April 13, 1924, the daughter of Eva and Joseph Parrotte. She graduated from Our Lady of Victory High School and went on to attend Plattsburgh Business Institute before working in the office of Merkel's Department Store for many years. On July 23, 1946 she married Merrill Gonyea at Our Lady of Victory Church. He predeceased her on February 2, 2013. Patricia is survived by her six children: Sherry and Bob Gaspar of Malone; Maureen Spisinski of Greer, SC ; Gary and Mary Gonyea of Ithaca, NY; Michael Gonyea of Mechanicsburg, PA; Kathleen Gonyea of Massena, NY; and William and Kelli Gonyea of Buckeye, Arizona. Also surviving are her 6 grandchildren: Scott (Alea) Storrs, Craig (Kristi) Spisinski, Jeffrey Spisinski and Stephanie, Elizabeth and Matthew Gonyea. Patricia is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her two sisters, Sister Veronica Parrotte and Adelaide Rennell and a brother, Francis Parrotte. After her children were in school, Patricia returned to work as a secretary in the Plattsburgh City School System, working at Monty Street School and the City School Administrative Building on Elizabeth Street. After retiring, she enjoyed attending the secretaries' luncheons as well as playing Bingo. Pat was a member of St. John's Church and truly enjoyed singing in the Church choir for many years. Calling hours will be held on Monday November 11, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at St. John's Church in Plattsburgh, burial will be in the Mount Carmel Cemetery.
