Mrs. Patricia R. "Patti" Kivett, 51, of Margaret Street. Plattsburgh, New York passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at her home after a three and a half year battle with lung cancer under the care of Hospice of the North Country. She was born in Cambridge, New York on March 16, 1957 the daughter of John and Sylvia (Osborne) Thume. Patti was a graduate of Beekmantown Central School, class of 1975. She was Cook Manager at Stafford Middle School and retired from Bailey Avenue Elementary School due to health reasons. Patti was an eternal optimist who always looked for the Good in any situation. She was a devoted wife and mother and her family was her first priority. Patti was a professional quality cook. Patti was an avid reader and enjoyed yoga, and walking her dog Ziggy. She was a member of St. Peter's Church. Patti is survived by her husband Michael Kivett of Plattsburgh, they were married September 26, 1981,one son Ryan Kivett and his wife Jordy of Cadyville, a daughter Kerry Kivett and her companion Sam Adams of Plattsburgh, her parents John and Sylvia Thume of Cumberland Head and Florida, her father-in-law William E. Kivett of Peru, NY, a sister, MaryAnne Gaul and her husband Greg of Beloit, WI , two brothers; David Thume and his wife Christine of Jericho, NY, Stephen Thume and his wife Kathi of Jericho, NY, an uncle and several nieces and nephews. Patti was predeceased by her paternal grandmother Lillian Thume and her mother-in-law Joan Kivett. Calling hours will be Tuesday, January 13, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Church. Entombment will be at St. Peter's Cemetery Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center or Hospice of the North Country.
