Patricia A Leavitt, 66, of Pine Brook Dr., Morrisonville, N.Y., passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015. She was born March 19, 1948, to Herbert and Virginia Ryan in Beverly, Massachusetts, both deceased. Pat is survived by her husband of 43 years, Robert M. Leavitt. Her daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Eric Brownell of Fishers, Indiana. Her daughter, Kristin Ovall of Charlotte, North Carolina. She adored and spoiled her three grandsons, Teghan Brownell, Devon Ovall, Cole Brownell and her granddaughter, April Brownell. She is also survived by her brother Peter Ryan of Massachusetts, and several family members including Sister-In-law and Brother-in-law Jeanne & Steve Zorick, her in-laws Ervin & Judy Leavitt and several loving nieces and nephews. She grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from Plymouth State in Plymouth, NH, in 1970. She met the love her life, Bob, in the summer of 1969, while working at Camp Nokomis in New Hampshire. They fell in love over letters while he was serving in Vietnam with the US Air Force. They were engaged upon his return and married in 1971. Her marriage to Bob carried her on many adventures including living in California, Oxford-England, and settling in Morrisonville, where she raised her two daughters, and earned her Masters Degree in Education from Plattsburgh State. She taught at Morrisonville Elementary School, retiring from Saranac Central School District after 20 years. In her retired years, she served as the Secretary for the Champlain Valley Council of Retirees. She enjoyed her monthly luncheons with her fellow retired teachers. She and Bob found an enthusiasm for cruising, taking them on high seas Caribbean adventures. She enjoyed her frequent trips to visit her daughters and grandchildren, watching them play soccer, do gymnastic and ballet. Pat was a lover of the arts, especially Broadway, taking an annual trip to see a few shows in NYC. She was a skilled artist, painting watercolors and sketching. She enjoyed her crossword puzzles, reading, passing out candy at Halloween and striking up conversations with complete strangers. Most of all Pat loved her husband and family. She had a bright gentle soul that lit up a room. Others were not strangers, just people she had not met yet. She will be deeply missed. At Patricia's request there will be no public calling hours. A funeral service will be held on Monday March 2, 2015 at 10:00 am at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
