Paul J.L. Aikens, passed away Friday Nov. 27, 2020
at The UVM Health Network, Burlington Vermont with his wife and family by his side. He called Savannah, GA, Red Bank,NJ and Plattsburgh, NY home. Paul was born on June 4th 1940 the youngest of twin sons born to Henry and Pearl(Ward) Aiken.
A devoted Baptist, Paul’s religious homes are Pilgrim Baptist Church, Red Bank, N.J. and Bible Baptist Church, Plattsburgh, NY. He could be found most weekends puttering around church offering help.
Upon graduation from high school Paul attended Monmouth University in Long Branch,N.J. before his twenty three year career with the United States Air Force.
His first and last duty station was Plattsburgh, N.Y. With Goose Bay Labrador, Mather Air Force Base, Sacramento,CA, Naha Air Force,Japan &, Osan Air Force Base, Korea, all between his career’s beginning and end. Between 1959 and 1982 Paul attended a host of colleges before achieving a two year degree, Baccalaureate and Master of Science from SUNY Plattsburgh,NY.
While Paul deeply loved his family: Son Brian, Daughter Nancy, Son in-law Carlton, wife Zella, he was a devoted grand-father to:Carlton-Anthony, LaToshia,Quinn,Milan,Cameron, and their family’s.
Paul’s varied work life includes: Air Base Recreation Ctr. The LaCount Insurance Agency, W.I.R.Y., Electrolux, Rent-A-Center, Per Diem Teacher at Peru Jr./Sr. High School, Asst. Mgr. Tablet Inspection WYETH-AYERST to name a few.
Paul was an avid golfer and could be found at his home away from home: The Barracks Golf Course most days. His interest’s were: GOLF, GOLF, GOLF
His parents, a twin brother, Aunt’s,Uncles predeceased.him. He is survived by his wife Zella of 59 Yrs., Son Brian of VT daughter Nancy of West Chazy, NY
Niece’s, Nephews, and a Sister-in-law Patia Aiken’s of Riverdale GA.
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2020
at Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. Plattsburgh, NY 12901. A Private family
Service will be lived streamed on Brown Funeral Home’s Facebook Page at 2:00 pm
In lieu of flowers, donations can in Paul’s memory to The CVPH cancer Fund
A Memorial Golf Tournament will be planned for the Spring.
