Peter E Jock

d. July 23, 2017

Peter E Jock, , 75, of Elizabeth Street, Plattsburgh, N.Y., passed away peacefully Sunday, July 23, 2017, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with his family by his side. Peter was born in Plattsburgh on October 15, 1941, the son of Benjamin and Marian (Perkins) Jock. He attended Morrisonville School and then graduated from Saranac Central School in 1959. Four years later, Peter completed a Bachelor of Science degree in education at Plattsburgh State University. He taught in the Glens Falls area before returning to Plattsburgh to obtain his Masters in Education, plus all courses for his doctorate. A short time later he began teaching 6th grade Science at the Plattsburgh City School District. After many years he switched professions and retired as a beloved Guidance Counselor in 1995. He loved the outdoors, and was very athletic, playing baseball much of his life and was his school wrestling champion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, insect collecting, and watching the Mets play ball. He met and married the mother of his children Marie (Hall) Jock and raised a family together for many years. Peter was an avid reader, and spent his last moments on his porch with a good book, the sun warming his gentle soul. Perhaps his favorite past-time was enjoying the various activities of his grandchildren and spending time with his wife and caregiver Betty Jock. Peter was predeceased by his parents; and his brother in-law, Richard St. Clair. He is survived by his companion and former wife Betty (Crowl) Jock of 30 years; his sister Carolyn (Jock) St. Clair; his children and their families, Stephen T Jock and his wife, Sarah (Smith) of Rochester and children, Dillon and Alana Jock, and step-children Christopher, Cory and Cameron Goldberg; his daughter, Krista (Jock) Boulé and her husband Christopher L. Boulé of Plattsburgh and their three children, Georgia, Madeline and Charlotte. Peter is also survived by his very special former mother-in-law Eva Ruth (Nixon) Hall; his niece Melodie St Clair, her son Ryan Tripp and her companion Mike Nogay; and nephew Todd and Paula (Spear) St. Clair and their children Jennifer and Nicholas St. Clair. Calling hours will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 26 with a funeral service to follow at 6:00, at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Keeseville, NY. Donations may be made to the Foundation of CVPH. The family would like to thank Dr. Craig Hurwitz and his staff at the Freedman Renal Center and the CVPH ICU staff for their outstanding care.
