Peter Peryea, 60, of Cumberland Head Road, Plattsburgh, died on March 5, 2012 at the family farm on the Tom Miller Road. He was born in Plattsburgh on Dec. 8, 1951 to Guy and Fleur Ange Peryea. Peter graduated from Beekmantown Central School in 1971 and was voted the most outstanding senior athlete. He owned and operated Peter Peryea Paving. He was a volunteer firefighter for Cumberland Head for 25 years, receiving numerous awards including Fireman of the Year. He served as secretary of the Clinton County Firefighter's Association for 15 years. He will be remembered for his outstanding community involvement. Peter is survived by his son Alex, of Plattsburgh, Alex's mother, Karen Peryea of Plattsburgh, Fleur Ange Peryea of Plattsburgh, four brothers and four sisters: Thomas Peryea and his wife, Gloria, of West Chazy, Michael Peryea of Plattsburgh, Gayla LaCross and her husband, Jeff, of New Jersey, Teresa Desautels and her husband, Phil, of Champlain, Martin Peryea and his wife, Ximena, of Texas, Mark Peryea of Plattsburgh, Marissa Peryea and her finance, George Palmer, of Plattsburgh, Michelle Brown and her husband, Robert, of Massachusetts and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Guy L. Peryea, on Feb. 11, 1989. Peter loved to tell stories, especially about growing up on the farm. He could repair and do anything and always enjoyed helping others in need. Every day was his birthday and he looked for his birthday kiss. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cumberland Head Fire Department. Calling hours will be at St. Mary's of the Lake Oratory on Cumberland Head, Friday, March 9th, 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. Funeral mass will be at St. Peter's Church, Saturday, March 10th, 12:30PM. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, NY 12901, (518) 561-3980.
