Phillip Harris Knuffke PLATTSBURGH - Phillip Harris Knuffke, 75, passed away at his home on Monday, January 30, 2012. He was born on Nov. 27, 1936 in Plattsburgh, NY to Edward W. and Beatrice (Harris) Knuffke. He attended Plattsburgh High School and enlisted in the Army in 1954 and served as a gunner in a tank Co. of 7th Infantry Division, 31 st Regiment in Korea. He joined the Plattsburgh Police Department in 1957 and resigned in 1967. He managed several fast food chain restaurants, including Mc Donald's and Burger King in Plattsburgh and other areas of the country. He was also employed by K-C Private Investigations, Inc. and Frontier Armored Car, Security and Investigation Service. Phillip was last employed by Walmart. Phil had been an avid bowler for many years and played baseball on the Police Athletic team. He enjoyed gardening and taking long rides around the north country and Vermont back roads to see new and interesting things and find a new dining spot. He liked lighthouses and seascapes and would often drive to places to see these. He was a fan of big band music and jazz and enjoyed dancing the jitterbug. He was predeceased by his parents, three infant siblings and his first wife, Shirley Hoy. Survivors include his companion, Carol Lawrence, two daughters, Cheryl Gregoire and her husband Paul of Lakeland, FL, Lila Groschan of Fredricksburg, VA, three sons, Scott Knuffke of Plattsburgh, Mark Knuffke of North Chittenden, VT, and Keith Knuffke of Denver, CO. Three grandchildren, Skylar Gregoire, Theresa and Ella Groschan , one great grand daughter, Amya Mae. Two sisters, Patricia Knuffke of Deltona, FL and Karen Martin and her husband Leonard of Malone, NY, also several aunts, neices, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held Saturday, February 4, 2012 from 2:00 pm. to 4:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad Street, Plattsburgh.
