Phyllis A. Piikkila, 78, of Plattsburgh, NY, passed away on Friday October 28, 2022 at CVPH Medical Center with family by her side. She was born in Plattsburgh on January 30, 1944 the daughter of Eugene and Marjorie (Sweatt) Provost.
She was a graduate of Willsboro highschool in 1961. She held jobs at Montgomery Ward and MJ Designs, and later as the Associate of Sales in the Tire & Battery Dept, at Sam’s Club. After over 15 years of service, she retired in 2014 to become full-time Grandma to the light of her life, her youngest granddaughter Vaida Valerie.
Phyllis was an avid Boston fan and was unmistakable driving around in her little black car immersed in Red Sox memorabilia and bumper stickers. Amongst her love of all things sports, she was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan and always rooted for Dale Earnhardt Jr. on the track. She jokingly claimed that George Strait was the true love of her life and she owned every album he released.
As an active member in the community, she was a familiar face in church and loved to volunteer at Harvest dinners. She enjoyed traveling with her family, spending time in Arizona, Florida, Maine, and South Carolina. She loved animals, puzzles, and spending time with her family. She was loved by all that knew her, coworkers, friends, and family alike.
Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, her brothers; Thurland “Sonny” Provost and Richard “Dickie” Provost, her sisters; Evelyn Cutting and Thelma Curry.
Survivors include her sons; Cary Hathaway, Harvey “Drago” Lobdell, Cody Lobdell and his wife Ashley, her daughter; Lisa (Baker) Downey and her husband Travis, Grandchildren; Trevor, Trisha, Justin, Shelby and her husband Dean, Hannah and her husband Nathan, Aiden, Brody, Zander, Jack and Vaida, a sister; Jane Lobdell and her husband Spencer, a sister in law; Pat Provost, several nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat, Fenway.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday November 1, 2022 from 4:00 to 6:00pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday November 2, 2022 at 11:00am at St. Philip of Jesus in Willsboro, NY, burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery in Willsboro.
