Phyllis J. Stonier, 88, of Tioga Lane, Plattsburgh, NY, passed away on Thursday December 9, 2021 at UVHN:CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Gardiner, ME on March 12, 1933 the daughter of Harold and Elizabeth (McGrath) Fabrizi.
Phyllis graduated from Coney High School in Augusta, Maine in 1951. She married Richard Stonier, Sr. in Maine in 1957. Phyllis and Richard arrived in Plattsburgh with the United States Air Force in 1962, while Richard was stationed at Plattsburgh Air Force Base. She graduated from North Country Community College in 1980 with a nursing degree. She began her nursing career at Meadowbrook Health Care and later worked at Elizabethtown Hospital.
Phyllis enjoyed gardening, painting and she bred English Bulldogs. She was predeceased by her husband SMSgt Richard Stonier, Sr. and a daughter Betty Anne Pelkey.
Phyllis is survived by her children; Richard Stonier, Jr. of Plattsburgh, CW03 Harold Stonier of Chino Hills, CA, Petty Officer 2nd Class Mary (Brad) Scott of Gathersburg, MD, Michael (Kari) Stonier of Altona, Lt. Col. Andrea Cornett of Dixon, CA, Melissa (Sgt. Shaun) Woodbury of Peachtree City, GA and Evelyn (Staff Sgt. Patrick) McGrady of Richmond, VA, 19 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held on Monday December 13, 2021 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel, with the burial to follow at St. Mary’s of the Lake Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House or the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center.
