Preston Z. Burl

Preston Zachary Burl , 60, of  West Chazy, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023 at this home, surrounded by his loving family, under the care of Hospice of the North Country.  He was born January 31, 1963, the son of Louis O. and Carmen (Rock) Burl.

He attended Saranac Central School.  He worked from a young age on a farm, then later at Morrisonville Construction, Rosebud Creamery, Drew Buick, entered Corrections, and worked 27 total years  at Salerno's Plastic.  Preston was an avid hunter and biker, loved his family deeply and loved spending time with them and his friends.  He put his 2 great-great-nieces, Jae-lynn VanHatten and Stella-Luna Wilson, on a pedestal.  He got a lot of his strength to keep fighting his illness from Stella-Luna who is also fighting her own battle waiting for a kidney transplant for the last 3 years; her video chats kept him going, how she struggled herself to learn to walk again after being sick herself due to her dialysis each night.  Preston's eyes would always light up when he saw her.

He is survived by his siblings and their spouses Rosalind (Tim), Joanie (Gary), Dana (Betty), Keith (Rosie), Sheryl (Kevin), Laura (Bill), Dwight (Joyce), Robin (Brenda), Stella (Wayne), Lena (Mark), & April (Dana), sisters-in-law Anna and Darlene Burl, 35 nieces and nephews, 40 great-nephews and great-nieces, 2 great-great-nieces, his feline companion Shelby "Baby Girl."

He is predeceased by his parents, his baby sisters Mary Theresa, brothers Louis M. and Niles, brother-in-law, Francis Young, and his nephew Allen Senecal.

Visitation will be Monday, October 23, 2023 from 3:00-6:00pm at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 11:00am at St. Alexander's Church, Morrisonville.  Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
