Rachel G Broderick

Dannemora Miss Rachel G. Broderick, 84, formerly of Burlington, Vermont and most recently of Barker Street, Dannemora, New York passed away Saturday, February 21, 2009 at the CVPH Medical Center. She was born in Ellenburg Depot, New York on October 26, 1914 the daughter of Lawrence Sidney and Elizabeth Mae (Patnode) Broderick. Rachel grew up in Chateaugay, New York and received her early education in a one room country school. She graduated from St. John's Academy in Plattsburgh with honors and went to the Champlain Valley School of Nursing, becoming a Registered Nurse. Rachel practiced her profession in several local hospitals. She later joined the Sisters of Charity of St. Louis at Our Lady of Victory. Rachel had been employed at Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington, Vermont in the medical records for fifteen years. Upon her retirement, she made her home with her sister Doris Breyette in Dannemora, New York. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church Dannemora. Rachel was predeceased by her parents Lawrence and Elizabeth Broderick, her brother Maurice Broderick and his wife Madeline, her sisters; Marie Alois, Dorothy Dumont and her husband John, her brothers-in-law Ting Breyette and Jim Murphy. She is survived by her sisters, Doris Breyette of Dannemora, Lillian Murphy of New Mexico, a very close friend Adah McCarthy of Plattsburgh and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Monday, February 23, 2009 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, Dannemora. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, Dannemora. Interment will be at a later date at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
