Ralph C. Graves, Sr., 85, of Woods Falls Road in Altona, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at his home with his wife Pauline and his beloved family by his side. He was born in Plattsburgh on September 19, 1936, the son of the late Leo and Ozina (Chagnon) Graves.
Ralph was one of many brothers and sisters. His work ethic and desire to take care of his family was his main goal in life. Ralph started his career at the Rutland Railroad and from there worked as a sheet metal and roofer for over 45 years. After retiring from sheet metal, Ralph worked as a handyman for Holy Angels Church in Altona for 20 years for Fr. Gilbert. Ralph was an excellent carpenter and could fix anything he put his hands on. Ralph was loved by all who met him, he will be truly missed. He was known as “Pepe’ by many.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Pauline (Peryea) Graves, his son Ralph (Sharron) Graves Jr, his daughters ; Nancy (Darrell) Myatt Tina (Norman) Charland , Julie (Dennis) Castine , daughter in law; Jane Graves, his siblings and their spouses; twelve grandchildren; Shannon and Pat Ryan, Jason and Kaleigh Myatt, Lori Graves and companion Ryan Dumont, Lisa and Cole LaPoint , Lynn Graves and companion Jon Dezan, Joshua and Karleen Castine, Mandy and Jason Campbell, Crystal Graves and companion Josh Bombardier, Sheena Graves and companion Timothy Damour, Kyle Graves and companion April Glennon, Wayne Graves Jr. and Evan Graves, nineteen great grandchildren; Mara Ryan and companion Colton Smith, McKayla Belair and companion Dylan Magoon, Abel Graves, Tim Willette Jr., Avery, Aliveya, and Abagale Guay, Alexis, Jamie, Tarra, and Jackson LaPoint, Dallas and Jameson Dezan, Jack and Karson Myatt, Gracie and Gabe Castine, Tucker and Adalynn Campbell, and many nieces, nephews and his beloved dog Suzie.
He was predeceased two sons; Mark Graves and Wayne Graves Sr. several siblings and his loving dog Curly.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, December 26, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home, 3123 Miner Farm Road in Altona. Face masks are required per NYS COVID guidelines. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 27, 2021 at 10:30 am at Holy Angels Church. Memorial donations may be offered to the family. .
