Plattsburgh On Sunday, April 6, 2014, Ramona Desso, 84, of the Wallace Hill Road, passed away into new life and the Loving Presence of our God. She died peacefully in Comfort Care with her family by her side. She was born in Plattsburgh on June 8, 1929, in the family homestead on the Wallace Hill, the daughter of the late Felix and Permelia (Plumadore) Caron. A woman of great faith, continual prayer, with a deep devotion to Our Blessed Mother, she as a communicant and member of St. Alexander's Church, where she had been an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist at church and to the sick at CVPH. An avid gardener, she tended her flower beds for as long as Alzheimer's allowed, nurturing her mother's roses which still bloom yearly. Ramona was humble, yet strong, and no job was beneath her. Her employment began harvesting and packing apples, waitressing at a small diner, car-hop at Ronnie's Michigan Stand, and lastly, she was employed by CVPH Medical Center as a Certified Nurse's Aide until her retirement in 1991. A tender and compassionate woman, she cared for the sick and elderly including her Mother and Father, and siblings. She was predeceased by her husband Sheridan "Buster" Desso in 1995. Together they shared a mutual love of car racing, snowmobile excursions, riding their Harley Davidson, and weekends at camp in Willsboro. Ramona is survived by her two daughters and their spouses: Sharon and Carl Provost; Permelia "Perry" and Gary Provost; and one son and daughter-in-law, Felix "Bo" and Shevawn Desso, all of Plattsburgh. She shared a special bond with her surviving sister, Valeda (Caron) Mertens. She is grandmother of eight: Corey, Jason and Joel Desso, Brian LaPointe, C.J. Provost, Jessica Provost, Jill Provost and Tricia (Provost) Myatt. She also is great-grandmother of nine: Emily, Bailey and Marissa Desso, Sky and Kinson LaPointe, Nathan and Joshua Myatt, Sarah Provost and Dylan Ferrigno. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville. Internment will be in the parish cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to St. Alexander's and St. Joseph's Building Fund. Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, NY 12901, (518)561-3980.
