Raymond E Collins

Raymond E. "Ray" Collins, 90, formerly of Leonard Avenue, Plattsburgh, NY, passed away on Sunday September 18, 2011 at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with his family by his side. He was born in Burlington, VT on February 12, 1921, the son of Edward and Charlotte (Tallman) Collins. Ray married the former Bernadina Pavone on April 25, 1943. He served in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1948. Ray was self employed as a ceramic tile and marble installer. After retiring, Ray worked with his son Rickey at R. C. and Son on Margaret in Plattsburgh as the office manager for fifteen years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 20 in Plattsburgh. He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years and seven siblings. Ray is survived by two sons; Stephen Collins, Sr. and his wife Marcia of Queensbury, NY and Rickey Collins of Morrisonville, NY, five grandchildren; Cory Collins and his companion Tammy Barcomb of Plattsburgh, Stephen Collins, Jr. of Saratoga, NY, Kent McKeighan of Granville, NY, Connie Sunday of Phoenix, AZ and Marcie Rath of Rensselaerville, NY, nine great grandchildren, a brother Edward Collins of Morrisonville, a brother-in-law Russell Ransom of Plattsburgh, a sister-in-law Bertha Pavone of Plattsburgh, a very special caregiver, his niece Mary Beth Gillen of Morrisonville, NY, several special nieces and nephews also survive him. At Ray's request their will be no public calling hours. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Plattsburgh with his wife.
