Raymond W. McCleary Jr., 61, of Plattsburgh NY, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, December 26, 2023. He was born Friday April 6, 1962, the son of Raymond W. McCleary Sr. and Shelvagean (Seguin) McCleary. Raymond was born in Cohoes, NY attending Cohoes High school, later moving to upstate NY and attending Saranac Central School. There, he met the love of his life, Judy (Griffin) McCleary, where he started his family with the birth of their daughter, Brooke. Raymond and his family moved back to Cohoes and began working as a forklift technician at Rushmore and Webber. Expanding his family, Raymond and Judy added their children, Cory and Brianna. He then began working under his father, Raymond Sr. at C & R Material Handling in Cohoes. While advancing his career, they then moved to Plattsburgh, New York. Raymond then began working for Northern Toyota Lift where he was currently employed for 31 years. Raymond also loved working at Dicks Sporting Goods for 15 years, where he enjoyed talking to customers and sharing hunting and fishing stories. Growing up as a young man, Raymond was passionate about playing baseball, hunting, fishing, and working long days to provide for his newly made family. Raymond was an avid outdoorsman and a gun enthusiast, spending countless hours and days hunting and fishing with his father (Raymond Sr.), brothers (Jimmy, Richie, and David), and modestly guiding his children through life. Working Monday through Friday, he enjoyed his nights watching the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. Fear of heights hindered traveling, resulting in driving being his only option mode of transportation. Later in life Raymond's enjoyment came from things like playing cards, newfound love for cornhole, and camping with family. He loved watching his grandchildren continue with sports and loved going to watch them play. His family was his life. Raymond's idea of tinkering and time consumption consisted of taking care of his lawn, hanging around in his garage, building, fixing and cleaning up messes that didn’t even exist. Assignments and tasks given by his wife, Judy, were always a comical response from Raymond, however being the humble loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend that he was, the task was never too difficult for him to complete. He would always be there in the blink of an eye to ensure help for anyone and everyone. Raymond will be most remembered for his sense of humor and ability to instigate anyone that knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years through marriage to Judy A. McCleary and 44 years together. Daughters Brooke McCleary and her partner Barbie Peryea, Brianna (Cardin) McCleary and her husband Christopher Cardin, and his son Cory McCleary and partner Jordanne Bond. Grandchildren Zoe and Zane Vaughn, Lillian Beatty and Paisley Cardin, Max and Maggie McCleary and Jacob Bond. Sister Shelley and Gil Stevens, Sister-in-law Pamela McCleary, and his brothers Richard McCleary and his partner Roxanne Grimmick, David and Shannon McCleary. Along with several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father Raymond W. McCleary Sr., mother Shelvagean McCleary and brother James McCleary. Arrangements are entrusted to Brown Funeral Home.
