Raymond J. “Joe” Varin Sr., 85 of Chazy Lake, NY passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at CVPH with his wife of 66 years close by. He was born in Chazy Lake on April 24, 1937, the son of Raymond and Catherine (Dubrey) Varin.

Joe met his wife, Carolyn (Benware) as teenagers and they were married on June 9, 1956 in St. Bernard’s Church, Lyon Mt., NY. They had two sons, Raymond “Joey” and Kenny. He worked on the farm, and drove plow truck for the Town of Dannemora. He started as a night watchman at Clinton Correctional Facility, moving up as a painter, Maintenance Supervisor and retired as Plant Superintendent with 37 years of service. After retirement, he continued to work on the farm with his sons, spent time at his hunting camp “ The Big Horn Hunting Club” with his close friends , and loved to golf every week when he was able. He was a real outdoorsman and was always on the move in his blue Dickies. Joe was a man of routine, faith, blunt honesty and a great storyteller.
