Renate I. Peterson, 82, of Fiske Road in Chazy, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2020 at her home. She was born on July 24, 1937, in Riga, Latvia, the daughter of the late Wolfgang and Jenny (Jurschewsky) Peterson.
Renate was a graduate of the Royal Victoria Hospital School of Nursing in Montreal, Quebec and retired from CVPH Medical Center in 1997 as an O.R. Nurse after 23 years of service. She also worked as an O.R. Nurse at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake and also as a travelling O.R. Nurse in Florida. She enjoyed travelling, reading, enjoying Florida and the sunshine, and her beagle “Pepper”. As a child, she was educated in Germany before immigrating to Canada and ultimately the U.S.
She is survived by her companion Warren Bixler, 4 sons; Patrick Collins and companion Candy Fleury of Beekmantown, Thomas Collins and companion Bridgette Robertson of Beekmantown, Jack Collins and wife Julie of West Chazy, Timothy Collins of Beekmantown, five grandchildren; Patrick, John, Justin, Jenna and Shay.
A son Robert Collins and two cousins; Sven and Alex Jurschewsky passed away earlier.
Due to the current pandemic, services will be private. Burial will be in the Ingraham Cemetery in West Chazy at a later date.
